Love is Illness

by Lyra   Jul 14, 2005

I Only hear you when you're silent
For that's when you speak volumes
I Only cry when I'm happy
Because I'd be weak to cry when I'm hurt
I'd die if you just reached out and touched me
For shame of not reaching out first
And yet I'm afraid to get burned
By Your love's candle
Why is it the language of the heart has to be translated?
I want to love you so bad it makes me sick
Love is illness
And what am I to do with your lonliness?
I see it wrapped around you like something tangible
And yet I'm powerless
If You'd but catch my eye and let me know
The world would spin again
But I'll learn to live in the edges of your shadow
Until I'm able to crawl away
and find a new pain to dwell in
A poet, I think, next time
Or a starving artist
Can't you see that all I want from you is your hurting?
I'd have your nightmares for you
If it meant you'd sleep soundly
