Deadly Secret

by Allie Stanley   Jul 14, 2005

When I first heard it seemed so simple and didn't seem to matter
I tried brushing it off with a bit of happy chatter
I didn't really think it was that serious
Then you began to get delirious

We saw you going down and losing control
I tried to help you, tried to console
You brushed me off and said I worried to much
But what you really needed was a friendly touch

The problem for a while faded
We begged you to stop but you couldn't be persuaded
You were so concerned about losing weight
But we all knew you weren't thinking straight

We screamed at you to hear us but you turned a deaf ear
You said it was your own life to steer
After your first collapse we knew you were in trouble and that we had to make a move
You were taking to much unto yourself like you had something to prove

I knew I had to tell someone and one day I worked up the courage
I walked in with my head held high refusing to get discouraged
I knew you were killing yourself and not well
And for me that was hell

So I took a deep breath and on your secret let someone in
Even though I knew what I had done was right I couldn't help feeling as though I'd sinned
So I ask your forgiveness for trying to save your life
I just didn’t want your regret to take place in the afterlife

This is dedicated to one of my friends. If you read this you know who you are. Please comment if you have the time...
