Turn Back Time

by Dee   Jul 15, 2005

Happy birthday to me
I am thirty-five years old
My life has passed before me
My world has turned so cold

I had romance and passion
When I was too young to accept
Now that I am older
I have nothing left

The best years of my life
Have somehow passed me by
My past was filled with happiness
I lived life like I was high

A song on the radio
Could shift a bad mood into good
Back in the days when life
Was misunderstood

Back in my twenties
When I knew it all
Back in the days
When I could not fall

Swimming in rough waters
With tides of daily changing
I took on every challenge
With little rearranging

The stormy waters that now drown me
I accepted with no conviction
I rode the waves inland
And felt no affliction

The mountains I once conquered
Are now hills I cannot climb
Like I used to in my younger days
When life was turning on a dime

Back when my experience
Was underestimated
Back in the days
Before love was overrated

Take me back there somehow
Let me live it all again
The days that I was surrounded
By happiness and friends
