Broken promise

by Bernadette   Jul 16, 2005

You may have broken me,
And it may have hurt,
But I am learning to see,
That you treated me like dirt,

And I still may cry at night,
But my tears will fade,
And my smile will return,
And my broken heart will no longer burn.

And I still may be tempted into your kiss,
Because when I remember I do miss,
The softest touch you had for me,
Watching the wave’s crash into the sea.

But I am stronger than I was before,
And each day my heart is not as sore,
But I just want you to remember one thing baby,
The broken promise you gave to me.

You said you would love me forever and a day,
You said you would never stop feeling this way,
You said you could not understand the beauty within my eyes,
But now I know that it was all just lies.

So goodbye my only one,
I guess one day we can say it was fun,
But right now I just feel so hurt,
And this broken heart is torn and burnt.
