Death of Life

by Erica   Jul 18, 2005

What is it without life, the dwelling stillness, the empty nothingness...

To never see the light of day, the golden colors of a sunset, the rainbow fields of flowers, the dimming glow of brightness reflected off the ocean

To never hear the harmony of music, the waves to the soul...the voices a mere shadow of an echo vibrating through the air, nothing to be able to acknowledge without a touch

The taste of sweetness only a feeling on the tongue, being worse than bitter - ending up with nothing at all...the loneliness crying out for another scent of feeling to quench their quiet emptiness

Having to live without touch...a feeling that isn't even there, and hard to imagine existed. To never know the true shape and spirit of life

Nothing at all

I can't grasp the tone of this poem. It doesn't show any fear; it doesn't show any fright. It is written in a tone that feels dead inside when I read it. Emotionless, cruel and colorless are just a few words that come up in my mind after reading the poem several times.

Death really is nothing at all. No feelings, no touch, no emotions, no sadness, no happiness, nothing whatsoever. It's dead.
