The Perfect Lie

by erikka baby   Jul 18, 2005

The perfect teenage girl
The one with all the friends
The one who always smiled
Even when her heart was broken

Nothing could get her down
No one could make her cry
For she was the perfect girl
Living the perfect lie

At night she'd cry silently
No one suspected a thing
The smile hid all the tears
It covered up all the pain

Her friends never knew
That she wanted to die
They thought she was perfect
The perfect girl, the perfect life

Her friends had never came over
To see her "perfect" home
She said her parents worked alot
And they couldn't be there alone

The perfect girl's home life
Was anything but great
Her dad was verbally abusive
And her mother always drank

Maybe the perfect girl always smiled
But inside she was fading away
Crying herself to sleep every night
And putting on a mask every day.

I love the way you put this!! Sad that there are so many people who feel this same way. I was truly trapped from beginning to end...It flowed nicely and I loved the way you didn't use the obvious rhyme but did rhyme. Excellent write!! :)
