Dear Father

Hey everyone.. this poem is to my dad.. today was my 16th bday and he finally called for the first time in a long time.. and it was just what was on my mind.. it probably isn't that great but oh well.. just read and comment please!!

Dear Father:

You called today
I would say I wonder why

yeah I’m finally 16
and I know how to drive

but no thanks to you
you never found the time

this was the first time you called
since probably the time I was nine

I cant count on one hand
how many birthdays you made me cry

you maybe have came to 3
I guess I’m not worth a dime

gas wasn’t so much
when I was a little kid

you could have came
you didn’t have to bring a gift

but no you could never show
your thoughts about me flew right out the window

but no surprise you still had you stupid father pride
trying to brag that I was just like you

well sorry but I refuse
I’m going to treat my kid better then you do

but thats just me
and I’m gonna do what I believe
never let you affect what I’m going to be

this is to you my father not my dad
thanks for never really being around

    YAY!! I feel the same way about my dad. He hasn't spoken to me in a LONG time. He writes snail mail everyone once in a while, but it's only to send me money. Cuz apparently he thinks he can buy my love. I love him cuz he's my father, but I don't think of him as a dad. He was never there. Aweosme job at portraying your emotions. I loved it! Another Awesome Poem!

    hey great poem
    sadly, i can realate. i loved the part about father not dad.
    i know, it's like ur supposed to love him cause ur his kid but he hasn't even begun to fill the role as dad.
