Pictures in my head

I remember it now…
I couldn’t bear it anymore,
As I fell to the floor,
With my back against the door,
I didn’t want to hear it,
The yelling & screaming & the bang on the wall,
Then worst came to worst,
I heard a loud shattering sound,
As my gut dropped to the ground,
And a sickening silence filled the air,
With death and despair,
I crawled up in a ball,
With my back against the door,
I tried to ignore it all,
And pretend like it used to be,
When we played happy family
As the pictures run through my head,
My heart fills with dread,
But I will not look back now.

As I lay in bed,
Trying to forget,
The pictures running through,
My head…
