The falcon

In a small secluded town,
hidden in the mountains,
a young girl sits and thinks.

she remembers years past
when there used to be a family
up high on the mountain cliff.

A pair of peregrine falcons,
had made that cliff their nest,
and for years right there they flourished.

but then years past and two became one,
a lone falcon soaring through the skies
in search of his lost love.

at the time the girl did not know,
but this bird was just like her.
alone and lost, searching for her love,
who she had lost so long ago.

everyday the girl would dream,
prey her true love to return.
shed watch the bird up on the cliff,
together they would mourn.

one day the girl went down to the river,
that twas at the foot of the cliff.
she waited for her dear friend the falcon,
but it seemed that he had left.

twas then the girl would loose all hope,
she reluctantly returned back home.
now in search of a friend to confide in,
someone to make her feel less alone.

but taken in so quickly,
she never stopped to think,
about her one true love she left her heart with,
not even time to blink.

she now had fallen for her friend,
this sweet, kind-hearted man.
And now he two now has fallen,
though this never was the plan.

And then just when this girl began to think,
that this man could be her new love,
finally now her prayers where answered,
and she was given back her beautiful dove.

the love she lost was now returned,
and she was overwhelmed with joy.
she happily embraced her lost love,
forgetting about the boy.

the girl then proceeded to tell her friend
of all the happy news,
but then it struck her hard as a stone,
and both were left with the blues.

she tried to comfort him,
tried to make him stay.
tried to convince him
she didn't want it to turn out this way.

for she truly loved him now,
but twas just to late,
the boy quickly took back his his feelings,
his love he would abate.

the girl now left so alone and confused.
it happened all so fast.
she tries to let him go,
but her feeling just wont pass.

she returns to the river,
to think over the events,
she preys again now,
her sins she repents.

and then in the distance,
the falcon she sees.
returning to the cliff now,
but not alone is he.

his lost love flies beside him,
in perfect harmony.
together again they flourish,
as twas always meant to be.

she now knows this was for the best,
though her friend shell truly miss.
but her love has waited oh so long,
for that eternally binding kiss.

she knows she must move on now,
continue with her life,
but to this man she'll always be grateful,
for his love, his kindness, for he took away her strife.

together now the falcons live,
perched up high upon that cliff.
together the girl and her true love stay,
and happily ever after they live.
