Without a sound

by Arkon   Jul 19, 2005

In the midst of the night
I'd stare at every street light
We would pass hundreds on the long trip home

It was late and I could tell they were tired
After all that coffee though, I was wired.
Somehow I'd fallen asleep to the tune of the engine's drone

As I lay on the wet road of a highway strip
I saw him hand the officer a pink slip
Why were there so many orange cones?

I tried to sit up but it hurt so bad. I looked around and I saw our car.
Where was the phone?

Mommy and Daddy weren't talking, they remained still. My eyes with tears begin to fill. A huge explosion, that gas was blown.

I screamed till my throat bled, for unlimited tears I would shed.
What happened.

The man with the officer was crying his eyes out and speaking true. Did he lose his mommy too?
His voice was in such a weird tone.

I made it to my feet to find that mommy and daddy are leaving, I scream and yell as I realize they're not breathing.

It was only one drink the other man had yelled. That bottle he still held.
I cannot forgive him for what he's done, because without mommy and daddy life's no fun.
