The Park

by Bryan Berry   Jul 20, 2005

I once sat in a park
In Chatham, near Cape Cod
These beautiful sites were new to me
A hilly, grassy meadow
With people in sun hats having picnics
Beautiful, tall, broad trees casting spotted shadows over a thick grass
Young couples sitting on benches whispering sweet nothings
The beaufitul sunlight shining through the clouds

Even the sounds were magnificent
The leaves brushing against each other in the breeze
Birds whose songs I had never heard before
People uttering sweet, caring, happy words

This made me wonder
Why can't the world be so beaufitul and serene?
Why can't we just stop for a small part of our lives
And appreciate that which costs nothing
The beauty of nature

oooooh! a cheerfull poem! very origonal. in theory this poem would be a bit sickly sweet but it isnt. youve described twee things but in a beautyful expressive way. very well done.
