When the Last Leaf Falls

by Mark Esteban   Jul 21, 2005

When the last leaf falls, ill be over you
It’ll be the time my lonely heart ailing will be through,
And I will walk away as my lips smile
Knowing I haven’t done it for a very long while.
Like a statue I’m being cursed
For this love that thou not worth.
It’s been a dream, a just hopeless reverie.
With you the only thing I have is uncertain memory.
How come it took this so long?
How come I didn’t realize this is all wrong?
Loving you gave me a feeling of pedestal,
Though, it left me hanging in the midst of denial.
I'd been haunted by your persistence never leaving me alone,
You live inside me in a space which had never been gone.
In day i'd weep, in night I cried.
You still linger here ---it aint worth to hide.
And ill be starting over and over again,
And it’ll end ill found you like way back then.
So when the last leaf fall it’ll be over
As God bequeath my littlest prayer,
Yet as long as the last leaf never falls
You remain the existence of this lonely dying soul.
