Will Work For Food

by Tammy   Jul 21, 2005

A tattered sign reads "Will work for Food"
bearing it, a man revealing weather worn clothes.
He stands on the street promptly demoralized
as his faith in society cursorily slows.
His body consumed by pangs of hunger
as numerous people pass him by
beholding only a loathsome disgrace
disregarding the despair in his eyes.
Far too concerned with their own lives
to give this wretched soul a second thought.
As he suffers through indigence
a compassionate heart is all that's sought.
Struggling to maintain a shred of pride
he attempts to conceal his desperation
praying someday someone will care enough
to help regain control of his situation.

Touching, Tammy, If only there were more people in this world that truly cared. There are so many out there like you have betrayed in this piece. Sad, truly sad. hugs, love, Ann
