The Reason

by Sarah Hotard   Jul 22, 2005

We sat there on opposite sides of the room
Connected and not knowing anything
A pure golden sunlight dancing in the drapes
Highlighting your face
You gently smiled at me
And for that moment I felt completely free
I turn my head to look around
I brush the hair out of my eyes
I pull back my coat and reveal my disguise
I was staring and you didn’t know
I wished I could just take your hand and go
I’ll never forget the nights sneaking out
Cheap champaign and sweet kisses
Just from your kiss you opened my senses
I looked for answers but they always seems to have flew
When you don’t speak and I look at you, for a second I fall deeply in love with you
You give me butterflies
You made me open my eyes
I don’t know what I’m feeling
It scares me to death
I’m afraid to love you because I don’t love myself
The reason for leaving you
Self-doubt.
