Running

X-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

feet slapping
the ground on
which I run,
my heart beat in my ear
headphones singing
in the other,
1,2,1,2
the quietness
apart from
me, running
enjoying the crisp
morning air,
nobody awake yet
1,2,1,2
alone, for thoughts in
my muddled head
running is my joy,
to be free, nothing but
nature and me
1,2,1,2
i love to feel the wind
whip past my hair,
catching a leaf
blowing, whistling
it talks, comforts
keeps you flying
1,2,1,2
boom, boom, lalalaaaaa
music helps you forget
the worries,
to focus on the brighter
things
1,2,1,2
like running
1,2,1,2
and mouthing the words
as I soar past
a middle aged woman,
giving me disapproving glances,
1,2,1,2
or could it be jelousy?
1,2,1,2
as I soar on by,
legs and feet
burning
with the pleasure
of running
1,2,1,2
as my hair swings
my arms pump
1,2,1,2
steady, steady,
running, running
for hours and hours I could
carry on
1,2,1,2
the birds calling over the walkman,
spiders weaving webs,
bees buzzing,
breathing deeply,
1,2,1,2
refreshing atmosphere,
no cars to disturb me
running,
running
1,2,1,2
paper boy watches me,
as I soar by
1,2,1,2
my feet slapping
the ground
as I run.
