Running From Life

Cold and damp,
I stagger on,
Running faster,
Running on,

Blood and sweat,
Down my face,
Bad memories,
To face,

Scared and hungry,
So very lonely,
Creeping closer,
Not lonely,

Running so fast,
Feet pounding hard,
Falling down,
Ground hard,

Staggering up now,
Regaing my balance,
Do not,
Lose Balance,

Feet so sore,
Exhausted and weak,
Days before,
Wasn't weak,

Lack of sleep,
Had no rest,
Getting tired,
Needing rest,

Heart pounding hard,
Brain thinking fast,
Hearing noise,
Move fast,

Finding familar places,
Finding my home,
Drawing near,
Almost home,

More gun shots,
Above my head,
Almost hitting,
My head,

But they leave,
I drop down,
Energy gone,
Feeling down,

Hoping and wishing,
Can't be seen,
Dead now,
If seen,

Totally disappeared now,
Completely utterly gone,
Spirit dies,
I'm gone,

I'm turning in,
I've given up,
My days,
Are up.
