Horizon

The sun sits on the horizon
Content, waiting
Sitting around until it’s the moon’s turn to shine
Illuminating the clouds that surround the dusk’s last minutes of sunlight
The clouds more beautiful than ever before
Swirls of pink and yellow collide
Into a color indescribable, even if I tried to explain it
The sun hits the trees just right
And make them look as if they’re on fire
Burning into the core of something much deeper than we can ever imagine
The clouds creep out of sight
Still cradling the last few gasps of sunlight the sun will produce

I lay on the lush grass
Watching the clouds rush past me
Knowing somewhere
The moon is on the horizon
Waiting for the sun’s turn to shine
And somebody somewhere is watching the day break
Longing to feel the sun’s rays shine on their face
And waiting for the swirls of pink and yellow
While they hold onto what’s left of the night time
And somewhere, there’s someone sitting alone
Watching all this happen
Asking themselves if things will get better
Wanting to fly away into the horizon
Waiting for their turn to collide with the clouds.
