Nothing Is What It Seems

Look at the sweet and beautiful girl
Whose hair loops and ends in a curl
Everyone watches as she goes for a whirl
Oblivious to everything, even her world

Eyes glistening, she goes her own way
As the sun shines on this month of May
They see her smile each and everyday
They’ll never know its just made of clay

Nothing is what it seems
Outward smiles of inward pain
Nothing is what it seems
Mysterious to all she will remain

Feeling her struggles are all in vain

Her secrets she locks with battered chain

She has no worldly nor emotional care
To the world around her that dims her glare
She wears a broken smile as they all stare
Her inner torment she’ll never share

She looks in the mirror and hates what she sees
Reflections of internal sorrow and eternal miseries
Scars from emotional wounds and wretched screams
Cursed to live a life of inner chaos and broken dreams
