How Did It Come To This?

How did I end up like this
I used to have a happy life
How did I come to hate my existence
So that I lay in bed wishing I was dead
I close my eyes and tell myself
It's okay no one cares anyway
The wind is whispering through my window
Telling me to do it tonight
I obey the wind's command
I slip out of my room and slip into the kitchen
I open the drawer
Flinching as it squeaks a protest
It seems to say no don't do it
I ignore it and continue to listen to the wind
I pick up the biggest and sharpest knife I can find
And slide back into my room
I sit on my bed and write my suicide note
It went something like this:
I'm sorry I wasn't perfect
I'm sorry I was cold
I'm sorry my life wasn't great
I'm sorry you won't care
But I won't be sorry when I'm dead
Love, Me
I lay the note on the table next to my bed
And lay back on the pillow
I hold up the knife and watch it glint in the light
Like some fabulous jewel that will save me from the night
I hold it high in the air with both hands clasped on the handle
I whisper my silent goodbyes as tears run down my face
I thrust the knife deep into my left breast
I gasp in pain as blood runs down my chest
Blood turning the sheets to crimson
The world starts to turn black
And I give the knife a twist
To make sure the job is done
And with my last breath
I laugh
As I slowly die
Blood running from my mouth
Again I think
How did it come to this
Oh well it's too late to save this lost soul
She's already laying dead in her room
A knife in her chest
What a gruesome sight
I feel sorry for whoever finds her in the morning light
