Trains

by Weeping Wolf   Jul 25, 2005

~i know this poem is different, but it is symbolizing the lost years of our youth in junior-high.~

Trains

First time- “All Aboard”

Onto the train we went

Exciting but I wanted more.

It was our first ride through society

Went so fast the train came back breathless

The passengers were changed and restless

I met new friends and opportunities

But we were all so young

They all left us like lost possibilities

Moment the train leaves the station

I get the most wonderful sensation

Memories flow into me again

Feels like I started a tropical rain

My head is spinning round n round

And I know the worlds not slowing down

Second Time- Subway train

Loud like a roller coaster

So many things to get us going

Yet we were dazzled by those posters

Saying we were something more

Strutting our little stuff like pigeons

Loving the old stories and folklore

The subway train was a fast one.

Moment the train leaves the station

I get the most wonderful sensation

Memories flow into me again

Feels like I started a tropical rain

My head is spinning round n round

And I know the worlds not slowing down

Third Time- “Last Stop!”

This one was the best and the worst

We learn so many things on this train

That we would have to remember for the rest

Of our lives, and that’s how the memories came.

So many things to overwhelm us

To many things out there to hurt us

Everyone promised to be friends till the end

But the cable cars are already separating

But thanks for all the effort and wisdom

You gave the blind person 20-20 vision

And all the opportunities and ideas that came

They hit me like a south-bound train.

Now I’ve got talent and here comes the future

And now I’m learning poetry and scripture

My life I have sketched and painted like a picture

Now from the rumbling trains sounds a song

And now it dawns on me and I at last realize

hey, the worlds not slowing down for no one

So I get off that train finally and step free

Thinking no one can change me now ‘This is me”

Hold my hand as we walk off that train together

I’ll hold the memories but u got to remember them.

So now we got a whole new look on life forever.

Moment the train leaves the station

I get the most wonderful sensation

Memories flow into me again

Feels like I started a tropical rain

My head is spinning round n round

And I know the worlds not slowing down.

You found me sitting in the station crying

You walk up to me, sit down with me, and smile

So I laugh because I know that’s what I was not trying

I ask “Do you remember the memories?”

You just sigh and shake your head at me like I’m silly

Then you look n see the tears so you answer to me

“Yes, but my friend the world ain’t slowing down”

There i still remember the familiar spinning round n round

I sigh and wipe the tears and try to say “I know but--“

You cant help but laugh “Oh, Layla you’ll never change”

So I just got to get up n brush off those old memories

And we walk away from the train and out that station

Ya, memories hit my like a southbound train.

Moment the train leaves the station

I get the most wonderful sensation

Memories flow into me again

Feels like I started a tropical rain

My head is spinning round n round

And I know the worlds not slowing down....
