The covers barely give warmth
To your fragile frame upon your bed
Skeletal figure lying on your own
Fighting for life, to strong to be dead

Tiny woman can hardly move
Skin so thin drapes across your bones
A blanket of flesh, barely enough
You crumble like dust beneath stones

Death is almost in your grasp
Edging closer to it as you fade away
Into darkness, your sight vanishes
The world grows dimmer by the day

The cat by your side brings comfort
Stroke him gently with tender care
He purrs softly upon your lap
Though you can scarcely tell he’s there

A house so small and delicate
Just like what we see of you
You spend each day within the rooms
A trip out each week, maybe even two

Though you try to hide it away
I can see in your eyes how afraid you are
How you tremble from the terror
That you can’t go on very far

Met with you only a few times
As our lives lead different paths
But now your illness takes over
And subdues all our mirth and laughs

We don’t want you to leave
Fragile angel with wispy silver hair
Though you tried to win this war
You are fading away into despair

It's hard watching someone you love die slowly. I remember it. Stay strong, I'm always here for you.
