That Photograph

When all you've got is a photograph of the apple of your eye,
color faded and tear stained from every tear you've cried,
it's the reason that you're here, it's why you don't just die,
but it's such a sad reminder of the times you never tried,
you'd give it all just to see them smile,
you'd lose your life to make theirs worthwhile,
they're more important to you than the air,
you love them so much, even if they don't care,
you only want them to be happy and be well,
to give them this you'd gladly burn in Hell,
knowing that their picture is all that you own,
you hold it so near, setting by the phone,
hoping they will call, yet they never do,
all you really want to say is, "I love you",
