When I want to love
Something keeps holding me back
I just seem to let you in my life
I just can’t let someone get close to me

I can’t let my heart open up
I can’t help but to block you out of my life
Please try to recognize
I cannot let you love me

I become scared
That you will hurt me
And so I break your heart
And back into the shadows I go.

The shadow I got to be familiar with
The shadows I’ve lived in for a long time
The shadows I hide away from one and all
The darkness is my only companion at this time.

When I want to love
I fall back into a the shadows
I scurry from one and all
And I hide in the shadows.

For the hurt I caused
For the broken hearts I caused
For the sorrow you have to go through.
