For every child that cries at night,
With shame and pain and fright
For the child who only wants so much,
To feel a loving, gentle touch.
For the beaten child, who's life has become insane
Who's tears run silent, like the rain
For the child who's face is streaked with dirt
The child that doesn't even own one shirt.
For the child who lives in a world of violence,
In a horrifying home filled with silence.
For the child who can never play.
Who's never seen a sunny day.
For the child who's father drinks
The yelling and screaming making the child's heart sink
For the child who's life fades.
Once too often they had turned to the blades
For the child who's eyes hold untold sorrow
This child's life will end tomorrow
For the child who's life is so bleak
Never finding the kindness that they seek
For the child who's day were so grey
Here in this terrible world they have to stay
For the child who never will trust
Ending their life, feeling they must.
For the child who lives on the streets
On the ground that child weeps
For the child who never feels secure
Painful words and abuse they must endure
For the child who has never had a hug
Has never been warm and snug
For the child who's heart is torn beyond repair
By people who call themselves parents, saying they are always there
For the child who wishes they could die
To them the whole world is a lie
For the child taken from his/her home
And is made to feel so alone
For the child's who's home is just a shell,
Who's life's become a living hell.
For the child who can smile, but can not feel,
Who's scars run to deep to heal
For every child who aches for love,
I pray to God up above,
To hear your cries and heal your pain,
And give you back your life again
