The Longest Road

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Jul 27, 2005

I walk the lonely street.
Not a care in the world.
Everything I've ever loved,
Left in the past.

I walk the road of hope.
Looking only but straight ahead.
Trying to fight the urge
To retrace my steps.

As I continue down the street.
Memories rush through my head.
Shadows of my past blind me.
Pain strikes my heart.

My head held straight.
Trying to be strong.
Fighting the tears.
Fighting the pleas in my head.

Abandoning my new resolutions
Incapable of continuing.
I turn around and head back.
Defeated.
