Metaphorically Speaking

Strong as an ox
Standing as high and as proud as a willow
But yet, his weakness
is as soft as a pillow
Ready to criticize anyone
for the smallest reasons. Why?
Is it to hide away the pain
that he really feels inside?

She's as popular as a trend
Around her friends she holds her head up tall
to impress everyone
She acts as fake as a display glass doll
With the use of man-made products
She's as beautiful as a sunrise
is it to hide away the scars?
Is it all just a disguise?
An abusive boyfriend hits her
with blows as hard as cement.
Around others she pretends
as if everything was "decent".

A word is as sharp as a knife
if you speak without thinking
But who's to say?
Because I'm only metaphorically speaking.
