Bad dreams

Please don't take away my love,
Whose soft ember eyes fill my world with light,
I know who you are and what you have done,
You've done it before with your heart that hates.

Don't make her do what I used to do,
making deep scarlet fall from my arms,
She doesn't deserve that
she's the lavender of my field,
The beautiful flower eloquently scenting my life.

But you know as well as I that flowers wilt,
No light is without shadow, no rose without thorn,
No desire without regret as you have taught me,
By taking my love away from me.

My heart is breaking when I see her face,
the once smooth beauty torn in form and feature,
I go to my love and see the pain in her eyes,
Her wrists perfect mirrors of what mine once were.
