You just kept walking

You walk into my life
and you become my best friend
we are on the phone every night
we thought our friendship would never end

but then things start to change
it turns to talking every other night
we start to drift away from each other
and then we begin to fight

soon we talk once a week
and the awkward silences start
neither of us can do a thing
but its tearing both of us apart

now we talk only on occasion
like on each others birthdays
but only for a few minutes
we were beginning to go our separate ways

now we don’t ever talk
but I still always think of you
how I wish it was the way it was
but now we cant go back, no matter how much we may want to

you meant so much to me
now I feel as if I was slashed with a knife
and that’s the story of how you walked in
then out of my life…
