The Deadly Rose

by Wilman Vergara   Nov 8, 2003

I saw a rose of gargantuan proportion,
Which was difficult to see at first cause my vision suffered from distortion.
This majestic rose, with petals as soft as clouds,
Was only hidden in one place, which I found.
As beautiful as it was it could have devastating affects,
One which I, as a human being could not neglect.
With thorns the size of cars and razor sharp edges,
That not any soldier could climb even if for his country he pledges.
I dared to climb this rose, taking me a year to reach it's peak.
But when I got there it's petals did not open.
She didn't want to let me in.
After a year of struggling I recieved no reward.
Until finally she opened with no disregard.
Pushing me off the edge and sending me to the abyss,
I thought to myself, "maybe I finally recieved the infamous death kiss."
Which was oh so true, When I felt a sharp pain penetrating my back and went through my heart.
Not killing me instantaneously, leaving me to suffer.
She did not realize I was there, she did not know I was dying.
She thought she had me forever, but didn't, so ended up crying.
For taking a special love for granted she is all alone.
Not wanting to open until it was too late.
No love ever dared to climb up her thorny stem again.
For in this life you always pay for any wrongdoing you dare to make.

*A tru story using the rose a metaphor for a girl that did not know how to appreciate a good boyfriend, and feel free to rate this poem and comment on it I really want to know what ya'll think about it*
