Why are we here?

by enfant du tordu chagrin   Jul 29, 2005

Why are we on the face of this earth?
This is a question oft asked
Mankind will wonder, about things like this
Its curiosity cannot be masked

Some people believe in Allah or God
It’s all his will, don’t you know
He’s set it out, got a big plan
Of the way that our lives should go

For others, peoples many and varied
There’s no such controlling power
For these people life’s purpose
Changes from hour to hour

Some believe in a simple reason
Just that we’re here to live
Simple, straightforward and to the point
It’s the mundane reason to give

Why we are here, what’s our purpose?
We’ve wondered, for years beyond measure
But whether we’ll ever find out
I wonder, and the pondering I treasure
