Drowning Memories

I don't remember what happened
Everything happened so fast
One minute I was at your side
Gliding across a frozen pond
A winter paradise
The ice gave way
I slipped into shock
My fists pound the ice trying to break through
It's useless
A waste of my energy
My mind races
With thoughts overflowing
I try to find the spot I fell through
I'm running out of time and air
I look up and see you standing above me
You're panicking as tears stream down your cheeks
You put your hand to the ice
I put my hand to yours
That's the moment my finale breathe of air escapes my lips
As I slip away and fade out I'm left with lingering thoughts of you.
