I gave you my heart so willingly,
I hoped you'd keep it close to you.
If not,
I hoped I'd get it back in one piece.
So I handed it to you, with hopeful eyes,
without even thinking twice.
Freshly healed, scars still remain,
somehow managing to keep beating strong.
Placing it gently into your hand,
whispering softly, "Please be careful."
I should have known better.
It wasn't more than a minute later,
you were reaching out to give it back to me.
Tears form in my eyes,
but before I can take it back,
you let it slide from your hands.
Dropping to the floor in slow motion,
I'm too shocked to move.
I just watch it fall.
finally it hits the ground,
shattering like glass.
Now my heart is in a million pieces and you walk away without a word.
My hearet is too broken to ever fix,
that was months ago,
and I haven't really stopped crying since.
