Fairy Tale

Once upon a time
One lonely, cold night
A helpless girl picked up a blade
She dragged it across her wrist
For the first time in her life

As her flesh tore open
And the blood flowed so free
The girl uttered a gasp, caught her breath
Looked down to see what she had done to herself

Though the tears didn't stop
She continued to cause her own pain
Addicted to the blade, the crimson
Her escape, countless times again

A few months pass by
More scars that tell their tale
Some were deep, some bled more
But all would say how she had failed

People would scream out, "Stop!"
She'd scream back with, "No!"
Then in her room, she would sob
Even though her friends would always show
Just how much they love and care

Why doesn't she listen?
Does she really want to die?
Her life seems so close to perfect
So why doesn't she try harder not to cry?

No one can really understand
How lost she sometimes feels
Will she find herself through the cuts...
And how long will it take?
Maybe she'll see when her scars heal

Once upon a time
One lonely, cold night
A broken girl became a cutter
Her fairy tale has had twists and turns
But will it have a happily ever after?
