Loves scale

by Sean   Aug 3, 2005

This scale of two hearts in line,
between the skin of our flesh.
With the weight of yours sunken down,
with mine high above, so small, miniscule.

Because your love is so much more.
Bigger than you, or I, or the sky,
the world and the bodies of so many, who live,
because when I sense your love it’s beyond this,
beyond the sweat of my brow as I kiss you,
or the pressure of my fingers against yours.

Maybe in your mind, my heart is as significant,
as the angel I see you as, or as empowering as the
sun upon the world, yet I know that when we touch.
Yours is sensitive and darkened, seductive and loving while mine is
male and foreboding, without the lovers feeling and mine.

So, dare look at this scale and measure the weight
of our love by action, or time, or the hands which
embrace one another. Realise when we speak the words
we speak are nothing compared to the emotion within us.
Or the love we both treasure, it means nothing,
because I know I see an angel by my side,
And I know you hold me just the same.
