Silent tears
streaming slowly
down my cheeks
watching silently
people battered and scarred
running scared
their destination unknown
planes crashing
fires blazing
smoke heavy in the air
women crying
men dying
children left orphans
taking a deep breath
stinging my lungs
like a knife
watch in anticipation
for hope of survivors
my heart heavy
my eyes unglued
lives taken
in a heartbeat
never to have life again
no time to say
I love you
no time for one last kiss
no time to say I'm sorry
for an argument
that seems so petty now
we will go on
with lives of our own
but deep in our hearts
we must always remember
the brave
the widowed
those who's lives
are no longer
we have our dreams
we have our lives
but never forget
those who never had a chance
to feel the
hands of a child
count the toes of their first born
watch their young grow up
their grand-children play
make love to their spouse
just one more time
sit and watch the sunset
while holding
the one you love
never get that
one last chance to say
I love you
