Exodus

by Steven Beesley   Aug 4, 2005

One by one I see you go
Leaves me with a lump in my throat
Saddened heart that wants to cry
All your company, now gone, goodbye...

Wishing things could be so different
Hoping that this would be a happier place
Yet emptiness now sits in this space
This is such a hopeless state...

Cannot bear much more, my heart will tear
One day I hope we can reunite
Have good times, new hopes to share
A tear falls from the corner of my eye, you have all gone and left me with a sigh...

My heart leaps out, crying for you not to go.
For whatever reasons, I will never know?
Wishing the best in all that you do
Come back and join with me and bring new growth...

So it is now that I must bid you goodbye
God keep you safe, leading fruitful lives
Forget me not even till the day I die
Your friend I'll stay even should you deny...

Now emptiness fills a void full of tears
No joy or laughter, only woes and fears
Depression is now a friend to me
Joined with loneliness too, my new fraternity...

A love once shared has gone and died
For you new fresh pastures call for you to roam
These old fields now barren and so cold
Those wretched black crows now peck at this soul.

Note: I wrote this last night when I was really really depressed, I know it's not good, but it's what I felt at the time and still do.
