Darkness isn’t from a lack of stars

Death to glory, heroes fall
Every shallow soul containing
Sad hearts drenched in this
Fear of suffocating
As eyes glazed over peer
Into a blackened world
I see the lies taking hold
And know the truth will not be told
Tonight has been forever lost
Darkness isn’t from a lack of stars
The world wants decency dead
So it can create heroes without these scars
‘Cause we are brittle and easily break
So we sink into these stories
Lies of inhuman compassion
Disguise the mortal trials and glories
Underneath is a truth and a reality
That we all know and dread
How much longer can we run or pretend
And what will happen when we can’t hide the red?
