Heart of fire

My lonely soul continues to wait patiently for the love to return
While inside my body my heart continues to burn

My life has been ruined because of this weak and feeble heart
While the ever-wondering thoughts of dying are slowly ripping my life apart

The tortured heart that I have come to acquire
Has kept me from reaching my unspoken desires
Leaving me lost or even trapped
In a searing hellish fire

Raped by the flames my heart has grown tender
The pain is almost unbearable but I will not surrender
When I do happen to leave this world
I wonder if my name will ever be remembered

I’m not sure what I did in my past life for this to transpire
All I know is that my heart has now been set on fire
To pay for the unknown past
The one that has long ago retired

Stuck with this burden burnt across the inside of my chest
From the day I was born
Until my soul lays down to rest
