A Simple Kind Word

by Jaime   Aug 6, 2005

She stayed up all night working
Like any great student should
She was worried no one would like her presentation
So she was looking for ways to make it good.

She knew it would be hated
No matter how much work she put into it
She went to school wondering
How on Earth she would get through it.

That morning she ran into a boy
She'd been talking to for a while
"You're beautiful," he told her
She blushed and hid her smile.

Whether he meant it or not
She believed it to be true
And walked into the classroom
Confident of what she had to do.

The whole class loved her project
The one she feared they'd hate
Her belief it would be accepted
Was the secret that made it so great.

A simple kind word gave her confidence
She was able to pull off an A
So tell someone they are beautiful
You just might make their day.

I have only read a few of your poems so far but I really like the ideas you convey in your poetry and the way you express them. I also enjoy your style of writing.

This poem seemed to founder a bit near the beginning but overall it is still an excellent work.
