Oh God, Why is life so sad?
Why do women get beat up
By their man, just like their dad
Why do children go home from school
Just to run away
Why does the teenage daughter
Cut her wrists to end the day
Why does the little boy suffer,
Because his parents always fight
Why do the children grow up hurt
No longer wanting life

Why do we ask
Questions of our existence
Wondering if all the pain
Is really worth the distance
Or is it the other way around
Sometimes it seems
So impossible
To turn up a frown
Why are we lying down
Deep in the dirt
Our feelings’ hurt
Being eating
By a ravenous hound
It makes no sense
That life’s so sad
Do you cry yourself to sleep?
Do you look down at this earth you made
Hoping to not even hear a peep
Why are we always suffering
Each and every day
Why are our hearts failing us
In more than just one way

Why is the mother single
At the age of just thirteen
Why is the brother dying
In a war he didn’t dream
Why is the sister crying
When their parents get divorced
Why does she seem to blame herself
When rape is always forced
Why does the husband sleep around
When his wife is safe at home
Why does the wife pick up her frown
When a woman answers his phone
Why does she not care
When she’s knows that he’s there
With either Suzy, Kristy, or Claire?
What’s wrong with us all?
