Pretending Not To Care

by AGirlWorthFightingFor   Aug 6, 2005

When love was young and you were kind
A mad dream of happiness was mine
A lot of people take my smile for granted
Then wonder why I leave them empty handed

You can hold your breath until your lips turn blue
While I just sit and stare at you

The midst of it came in a haze
The absence of it, left me dazed
I knew it would last for only awhile
But all is well for you made me smile

Life as we have selected can never be expected
Still I feel your presence, see your eyes in my reflection
My heart is at peace during this brutal war
I wanted you to weather my storm

Pretending not to care about all that should drive insane
Pretending there is sunshine
when you’re standing in the rain
No more tears shall you see
The person I was will no longer be

I live, I try, I work, I win
I set goals to achieve them
At last I am ready to face life again
I glance at the valley and begin to descend

No excuses, no regrets
What’s left?
A ruined life and many have to pay
For all your mistakes along the way

For all the days you were pretending not to care
Curb your vanity, and I will be there
