Giving Up

Thinking to myself,
Reminiscing on the days,
On us.
Remembering that Sunday night,
We had never argued that bad.
Saying words I never thought I'd say,
Telling you its over and hanging up the phone.
No longer could I cry over you,
My emotions so mixed up.
I had told you I would never give up,
Yet I had just given up on you.
You called me back asking if what I had just said was a joke,
Replying no and if you meant the words you speak,
You would fight to keep me in your arms.
I didn't mean what I said,
Everybody knows I can't give up on you,
Without you, my life feels so dull,
So incomplete.
I just wanted some attention,
Is that so wrong?
I was upset, I was angry, I was so confused,
Never once did I stop loving you.
Don't you know I'd sacrifice my life for you to live?
I'd rather you be happy than me.
What I did was so wrong,
I should have never said what was said,
And for that I am sorry.
I'm sorry for giving up on you,
For surrendering to the fight,
For being unable to see the light on the other side.
I want you to know,
I will not give up,
I will not surrender to this fight,
I will always try to see the light,
I will never give up on you,
I will never stop loving you until the end of time.
