Just Writing

Just Writing
I’m writing about my baby tonight,
Holding unto today, but anticipating tomorrow to come.
Listening to all her favourites songs,
Though she’s not by my side, I know she’ll slip into my dreams in the night.

I’m writing for my baby tonight,
Perhaps I’ll even write her a song, steal all those lines she loves
Or hold her close and whisper them in her ear.
Then I’ll stay with her ‘till the day grows old, so that I can kiss her goodnight.

I’m writing all about my baby tonight,
Thinking what would happen if she were sitting next to me,
Whether she’d help me write this poem:
And explain her mysterious magnificence to me,- before her pointless beauty sleep.
