Long road home

by kelly   Aug 9, 2005

So many times, I have walked down this road
Of broken promises and callous lies,
Searching for the path
That would lead me safely home,
Away from the shadows that beckon,
Away from the sweet laughter
That sounds so much like screams.
Just home.
The voices of my past,
Haunt my once pleasant dreams
Filling me with a nostalgic yearning
For what was.
Making my heart ache,
Torturing my bleeding soul.
So much pain, distorting the idea that
One day I'll reach the place where I belong,
That calls out to me in the darkness,
Home,
Just home.
