Taking Off The Mask

by amandaa   Aug 9, 2005

Everybody's wearing a mask,
When we wanna cry
What we do is laugh.
What's so wrong with being sad?
It's not like you can always be happy
There's times when that's not what you should be

Everybody running around,
With their well paying jobs
On high class ground
I think they need to take a minute and realize,
Open their eyes
To what's important in life.

Something so common as money
So often it gets in the way.
I miss being able to talk to my parents,
But now we can't sit down and, without yelling, stay.

One of these days we need to stop,
And really take off the mask.
And then when we wanna cry,
Maybe we won't just laugh.

Why do people take pain as a weakness?
We've all felt it,
We all feel it.

Isn't joy a good thing?
So why do we cover it up?
I think sometimes we think too much
Our mind is like an over-flowing cup.

Finally right now
I am taking off my mask.
Right now I need to cry
So what I'll do
Is exactly that.

I'm sorry it's such a bad poem. I was trying to get a point out and it wasn't working to well.
