I Believe You

by kelly   Aug 9, 2005

Cut so deep,
By your softly spoken words,
Silently,
My life’s blood seeps through
My open wound and I scream,
So quietly.
Haunted by your painful words,
And yes, I believe you,
How can I not
When you’ve said them so many times,
In your quiet way.
I believe you, I...
I believe you,
How can I not
When to me this is all that you say?
When this is all I've ever heard from you,
And you are all I've ever known.
And yet when I look
In the mirror I see,
Quiet beauty,
But so much weakness and mortality,
Loneliness and pain,
Should I know
This is your fault, that you are to blame?
Or should I just remain?
This quiet reflective mouse,
Who knows where she truly belongs,
But is too scared to pursue her dreams.
I watch as my life’s blood drips quietly,
Like crimson tears
And I know...
I believe you
I believe you...
I shall stay.
