Before the night was over,
The kingdom was burnt,
The princess was missing,
And the dragon roared.
In this mystic realm,
In this land of magic,
The courage of men failed.
Every warrior and every strong lad was slayed by the dragon.
What man would face such evil?
In the shadow of the morning light,
There was a knight.
His sword glinted in the sun,
His armor stained with blood and scars,
His helmet revealed only his eyes.
The cave laid in front of him,
And inside it was the fears of men before him.
He ventured deep inside,
The cold wet walls of the cave beckoned to him.
Treasures decorated the ground he walked on,
Tempting him,
Welcoming him to the spoils.
There was light...
The knight rush forward.
There laid the dragon on top of a pile of gold and jewels.
The dragon's eyes fixated on his soul,
The dragon's smile brought fear into the hearts of others,
It's hot breathe grazed the knight's face.
The princess was nowhere to be found.
The knight unsheathed his sword,
The dragon snapped its tail and roared.
A breathe of fire,
A swing of a blade,
Blood of black and red.
A roar turned to a whimper,
And finally the dragon was dead.
The deed done,
The knight sheathed his sword and took off his helmet.
A tear ran down his cheek.
A voice gently called to him...
The princess held his hand,
The knight leaned forward for a kiss,
She stabbed him in the heart but missed.
The knight fell to his knees,
The princess disappeared into the shadows.
The knight lay there dying,
A sword in his chest,
Was this the end of his quest?
The world around him grew darker with each breathe he took,
His heart beated,
Bleeded,
And shook.
His eyes grew heavy,
He deserved to rest and not to be awaken...
For his life and heart was taken.
It wasn't like the stories and tales,
So many tries and fails.
Another self-sacrifice,
He fought for love and paid the price.
Rest fair knight,
Never awake till the world is right.
May your soul ascend,
For this is...
The End.
