This Soldier

by Jacklyn   Aug 10, 2005

This soldier died for you,
She’s from Iowa and Twenty two.
She had a daughter and two sons,
Her husband prayed every night for her return.

This soldier died for you,
Fresh out of the college of Michigan State.
He has a fiancé waiting for him,
She’s pregnant with his kid.

This soldier died for you,
He adopted and orphan, a little girl.
His wife longs for his gentle touch,
But all she receives are tears upon her pillow tonight.

This soldier died for you,
No family does she hold,
Not many friends to care for her,
She was just looking to find herself.

This soldier died for you,
The purest heart among them all,
A true gift from god,
Now he rest with is only father, his true believed creator.

This soldier died for you,
She lost her husband on 9-11.
Her anger and hurt helped her keep strong,
But lonely nights she’d break down, this woman just burned out.

These soldiers died for you,
Thousands more each with a story to tell,
Make their fighting worth it, make them proud.
Show them your life was worth dying for.

Very patriotic poem here. All of those soldiers died for the better and freedom of those who still grace this earth today - And it would be extremely nice to see people cherishing life and it's freedoms. Instead of abusing it and blaming others.
    Nicely written my friend.

    Luv always and forever.

Everybody has a different opinion, especially about the war going on now. I know its not what you wrote about but...Personally, I don't think people like the idea of how this poem is written.."this soldier died for you".

honestly I don't feel like a soldier died for me. It's just my opinion. I do have to say... the other parts in the poem truly touched my heart. I share in sympathy with every grieving soul out there who lost a loved one, be him/her a soldier or not.

    Peace always
