Kiss Me Goodnight

(Yes, this is a love poem...)

The tears have fallen, the heart has hurt,
the skin has bled, upon the shirt.
The voice has screamed, the darkness came,
the echoes haunt, again and again.

The rain is cold, the fire burns,
as I settled down, a new thing turns.
You took my hand, just at first sight,
I'll be ok, kiss me goodnight.

Today was cruel, tomorrow's worse,
I have no time, night uses force.
The head still aches, the wrists are sore,
I soon arrive, at pain's front door.

The raindrops fall, the thunder roars,
I've cleaned my closet, but not my drawers.
You sit with me, and hold me tight,
I'll be ok, kiss me goodnight.

The prayer failed, the pleads unheard,
reflection fades, with every word.
Pieces broken, parts of me,
my puzzle left, now history.

Tear stained pillows, candles melting,
my pain is leaving, no more shouting.
You arm around me, eyes so bright,
I'll be ok, kiss me goodnight.
