The Wreckage of Me

by HOLLY ARMER   Aug 11, 2005

Time passes so quickly
right before my eyes
Moments washed in tears
and faded within sighs

Memories caress me
as I make believe
That fate lies within
and someday it shall be

Yet I know it's all in vain
as the years float swiftly by
Only finding comfort
in the crystal tears I cry

Loneliness is my companion
in this world of vanity
Locked within myself
when perfection is the key

My self-esteem is battered
broken completely apart
As glimmers of hope slip through
my bitter shattered heart

And there's no getting back
to what I used to be
Just destined to live forever
within the wreckage of me!

Outstanding poem Holly! As usual your flow is terrific and your poetry is incredibly meaningful. I can relate to this one as I see myself as a wreck more often than not. Great job!
